9 Dog-Friendly Activities for You and Your Furry Friend in Hollywood

Hollywood is known as the heart of the entertainment industry, so it’s no surprise that there’s plenty to do around the city.

Not only can you find lots of activities to enjoy, but your pup will also have a great time adventuring through Hollywood’s dog-friendly spaces. Spending quality time with your furry friend is a great way to build your bond and make meaningful memories.

1. Explore the Walk of Fame

You may have heard of the legendary Walk of Fame along Hollywood Boulevard, but many people don’t consider just how dog-friendly this unique Hollywood attraction is.

You can take a stroll with your pooch and check out all the stars that line the boulevard. Just remember that Hollywood Boulevard is a busy street with many businesses open, so it’s important to keep your dog leashed and close to you, especially during busy times of the day.

2. Take a Hike at Runyon Canyon Park

Runyon Canyon Park is one of the most popular hiking spots in Hollywood. It’s for its incredibly close proximity to the Hollywood Sign and sweeping landscape views of the city skyline.

If you’re an avid hiker, you should definitely check out Fryman Canyon Park and Griffith Park as well, two other beloved destinations for hiking and sightseeing in and around Hollywood. Your pup is welcome at all of these trails, but don’t forget to bring plenty of water, especially in the summer.

3. Enjoy a Meal at Sweet Butter Kitchen

Hollywood is a dog-friendly city, which means many local restaurants with outdoor spaces allow dogs to come and relax as their owners enjoy a meal. (To be safe, always call ahead to confirm an establishment’s rules before bringing your pup.)

Some notable dog-friendly restaurants in Hollywood are Sweet Butter Kitchen, The Fat Dog, and Blue Dog Beer Tavern. You and your furry friend will both enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of these spots and possibly even meet some other friendly dogs.

4. Have Fun in the Sun at Huntington Dog Beach

Hollywood residents know that the beach is one of the sweetest perks of living in the city. There are many beaches to explore along the coast of SoCal, and many of them welcome dogs to enjoy the sand and surf with their owners.

Before visiting the beach, check the rules and leash requirements so that you can be respectful of other beachgoers. Many dog owners love Huntington Dog Beach, but Rosie’s Dog Beach down in Long Beach is also worth a visit.

5. Take a Walking Tour of Hollywood Landmarks

There are many historical landmarks in Hollywood, some of which are important stops along the city’s tours. While a lot of tours are conducted by bus, others are walkable and allow tourists to experience the city’s sights up close.

It’s not difficult to find a walking tour in Hollywood that will allow dogs to join! However, make sure to do your research and see if the tour’s route will be safe and comfortable for your dog.

6. Make New Friends at Laurel Canyon Dog Park

Laurel Canyon Dog Park is convenient for Hollywood dog owners and a great spot for your pup to play and socialize. Make sure to bring water for your pup, any toys they might like to play with, and waste bags for you-know-what.

Other options for dog-friendly parks in Hollywood include Pan Pacific Park and Wattles Garden Park. Keep in mind that not all parks that allow dogs will have a fenced area for off-leash play.

7. Have a Shopping Spree at Healthy Spot

Hollywood is home to several boutique pet stores that feature all kinds of unique treats, toys, food, and more. One of the most popular is Healthy Spot, which has multiple locations throughout Hollywood.

For your pup, visiting a fun pet store can make them as joyful as a kid in a candy store. If you want to see all Hollywood has to offer in terms of boutique pet shops, make sure you visit Pussy & Pooch as well.

8. Explore Hollywood’s Dog-Friendly Venues

There’s no shortage of live performances and entertainment to explore in Hollywood, and many of the city’s venues and events are outdoors. Hollywood pet owners constantly bring their pets to concerts, outdoor theaters, and open-air movie screenings.

Check the details of the performance or event beforehand to make sure it will be suitable for your dog. If so, don’t forget your leash and plenty of water and treats.

9. Take in the Views at the Hollywood Bowl Overlook

You may have visited the Hollywood Bowl for a concert, but have you ever hiked the Hollywood Bowl Overlook? This unique trail gives hikers a 360-degree view of the Bowl itself and the surrounding mountains and cityscape.

There are spots along the trail for picnicking, so if you bring your pup along, bring them some snacks so that you can sit and enjoy the view together. You will likely pass other hikers on the trail, so make sure to keep your dog leashed and well-behaved.
