What to Pack for Dog Boarding: Essentials and Tips for a Stress-Free Stay

Preparing for your dog’s boarding stay involves more than just dropping them off at the facility. Ensuring that you pack everything your furry friend needs will help make their time away from home comfortable and enjoyable. Here’s a comprehensive guide on what to pack for dog boarding, including specific details for Wag Hotels, a premier destination for canine accommodations.

General Packing List for Taking Your Dog to Dog Boarding

Most dog boarding hotels will ask you the big three: ID, Medical Records and Medications:

Leash, Collar, and ID Tags: Ensure your dog has a properly fitting collar with up-to-date ID tags attached. Pack their leash for walks and outings during their stay.

Medical Records and Contact Information: Provide the boarding facility with copies of your dog’s medical records, vaccination history, and emergency contact information in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Medications: If your dog requires medication, be sure to pack an ample supply along with clear instructions for administration. Include any necessary pill pockets or treats to help with medication compliance.

These items are usually options and change depending on the dog boarding company you are working with:

Food and Treats: Pack enough of your dog’s regular food for the duration of their stay, along with some extra in case of delays. Don’t forget their favorite treats to keep them happy and satisfied.

Bedding and Comfort Items: Bring along a familiar blanket or bed to provide your dog with a sense of security and comfort. Don’t forget their favorite toy or chew to keep them entertained during downtime.

What to Bring to Wag Hotels:

At Wag Hotels, we strive to provide the highest level of comfort and care for your furry friend. Here are some specific details to keep in mind when packing for your dog’s stay with us:

Bedding: We provide premium raised bedding in all our rooms and memory foam bedding in our luxury suites. Additional blankets are available upon request, but for safety and cleanliness reasons, we ask that you refrain from bringing any outside bedding from home.

Toys: Feel free to bring your pet’s favorite toy to keep them entertained during their stay. We ask that all toys fit inside a 1-gallon zip lock bag for easy storage and organization.

Food: While we offer food for all guests at no additional charge, you’re welcome to bring your dog’s regular food if you prefer. Please pre-bag each meal based on their serving size to ensure proper portion control. We do not accept any outside measuring cups, Tupperware, or bowls.

Medications: Our trained staff can administer any topical or oral medications your dog requires at no extra cost. Please provide medications in their original bottles with clear instructions. Unfortunately, we are unable to administer injections.
